Project Profile: 9.4 MW DC Hopkins Hill

Rhode Island Community Solar

The 9.4 MW DC Hopkins Hill Community Solar Project is located in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. TPE developed the project and selected DEPCOM Power as the EPC and Nautilus Solar Energy as the project investor.  The Hopkins Hill project is one of two projects completed by the team in 2021.

To ensure the project is not visible from any neighboring residential properties, a vegetated buffer consisting of native plants was installed.  The project also incorporates a number of environmental benefits including sponsorship of two University of Rhode Island Watershed Watch water quality monitoring sites along the tributaries to Fisherville Brook for the duration of the solar project. The site was swept for turtles prior to construction, includes wildlife-friendly fencing as well as a pollinator-friendly seed mix sown around the array perimeter.

The Hopkins Hill project will provide more than 1,800 Rhode Island National Grid customers with energy savings through community solar subscriptions. The project is part of the State of Rhode Island’s Community Net Metering Solar Pilot Program.

TPE and its partners:
